The science of connection

The signal matters.
So does the connection.

Explore the scientific rationale behind the PDGF MATRIX design—and the distinction between a promising technology and a validated finished product.

The design difference

More than the molecule.
Its connection to the matrix.

01 / The signal

PDGF-BB

Platelet-derived growth factor-BB is the signaling protein at the center of the PDGF MATRIX concept. Recombinant production defines the starting molecule.

02 / The connection

A PlGF-derived domain

A matrix-binding domain is incorporated into the design. “PlGF-derived” describes its biological inspiration, not the use of placental tissue.

03 / The objective

Local association

The development goal is stronger association with extracellular-matrix components. Binding, retention, activity and formulation performance must be assessed for the actual product.

Clinical comparisonEvidence belongs to the specific studied product and use.No demonstrated human superiority over Ariessence or other PDGF products is claimed.

Molecular design is not a substitute for evidence of safety, efficacy, skin penetration or post-procedure suitability.

Foundational research

Extracellular-matrix affinity as a design strategy.

Martino and colleagues studied growth factors engineered with a PlGF-derived domain. Their rodent studies support further investigation of this approach. They did not test Epi-Glo PDGF MATRIX or compare it with Ariessence.

The science of staying connected

The signal matters.
So does the connection.

PDGF MATRIX is designed to add matrix affinity to PDGF-BB. The goal: a stronger association with the surrounding extracellular environment.

The scientific foundation: published preclinical research found increased extracellular-matrix affinity and improved repair outcomes for engineered growth factors in rodent models. This is a technology rationale, not evidence of clinical superiority for Epi-Glo. Martino et al., Science, 2014 ↗
